How can we understand fractions?
A number which is written like a division problem
A fraction (from Latin: fractus, "broken") represents a part of a whole.
It can be understood as a number, which depicts the division of an integer by another, and the resulting quotient represents the quantity of each part, when the number of objects in the numerator is distributed equally into the number of parts depicted by the denominator.
For example, the fraction 45 states that 4 is divided by 5.
We can imagine 4 apples shared equally among 5 people.
Each person gets 45th of an apple.
