Definition of isobar

The atoms of different elements which have the same mass number but a different atomic number are called isobar.

Example of isobar

  1. N1123a , M1223g
  2. Here the atoms of sodium and magnesium have the same mass number which is 23.
  3. But the atomic number is different which is 11 for sodium and 12 for magnesium.
