1. Translucent objects are objects that partially allow light to pass.
2. Other types of objects are opaque, where light is not allowed to pass at all, and transparent where light can completely pass through the object.
3. We know that paper is an opaque object.
4. This means that paper cannot allow light to pass through it.
5. But, when oil or butter is applied to the paper, it allows the partial passing of light rays. Hence, the paper acts as a translucent object.
