How can you prepare hydrogen with the help of sodium metal?

Hydrogen is a very light gas, and so rises in the atmosphere. Hydrogen can be prepared from compounds like water, acids and bases as they all contain hydrogen. This reaction is highly exothermic and the heat liberated ignites the hydrogen.
$2 N a + 2 H_{2} O ⟶ 2 N a O H + H_{2}$
This reaction is also violent.
