How clitellum helps in process of fertilisation in earthworm

Open in App
Solution

Clitellum is the thickened portion or saddle-shaped region of glandular tissue of the earthworm's body that covers its 14th to 16th segment. It secretes the material for the formation of cocoon. After copulation between two earthworms, the formation of cocoon takes place. The eggs and sperms are deposited in the cocoon where fertilisation and further development takes place.
