Desert plants:

  1. Plants like cactus that live in the desert climate are adapted to live in the dry climate of the desert with less moisture.
  2. Like other green plants, desert plants also prepare food by photosynthesis.
  3. They use a modified form of photosynthesis and scientists call CAM photosynthesis.

CAM photosynthesis:

  1. This process gathers the solar energy during the day so that it can perform carbon fixation at night.
  2. The optimum temperature for the reaction is more than 40 degrees Celsius.
  3. The stomata mainly remains closed during the day and opens at night.
  4. The process of formation is different but the food is produced in the form of glucose in the end.
