Solution

  1. From 1919 to 1929 various movements took place against the British Samraj such as nationwide Satyagrahas (1919), Non-Cooperation movement (1920), The Non-Cooperation-Khilafat Movement (1921) and swaraj (1922) etc. coupled with other activities. Many people participated in these movements but with different motives and as a result these movements were not able to provide the required effect.
  1. Gandhi ji wanted a common cause for all social groups. He then realized salt as a powerful tool to unite the nation as salt is being consumed by rich and poor alike and was one of the most essential items. The salt taxes laid by the brutish government were very heavy.
  1. The tax on salt and the government monopoly over its production, Mahatma Gandhi declared, revealed the most oppressive face of British rule. Thus, through the salt march on 6 / 04 / 1930 Gandhiji started a movement to bring the masses in the national movement. The salt march turned out to be a milestone in freedom struggle and made a base for Civil Disobedience movement.
