Japan turned imperialist in the following ways :
(a) Japan had suffered a lot at the hands of Imperialist powers.
(b) Commodore Perry, an American naval officer, on entering Japan forced a Commercial Treaty on Japan.
(c) Japan tried its best to resist the Western influence but had to yield to it in the end.
(d) Japan could not with stand the exploitation and realized that it was important to modernize their county and emerged powerful.
