Dear Student,
Qutubuddin Aibak's rule was for a very brief period i.e., between 1206 to 1210. His reign was considered to be significant because it marked the rise of the first independent Turkish ruler in India. Contemporaries praise him for his liberality, beneficence and gallantry. He has given away lakhs of money for charity purposes. He was also a ferocious warrior and has conquered many territories in north India by brutally killing lakhs of people. This combination of emphasis on justice, liberality and brutality in war were common characteristic features of the early Turkish rulers in India.
