How did the British East India company expand itself in India?

Dear Student The East India Company expanded its rule in India using three ways:- 1. Direct Conquest 2. Subsidiary Alliance 3. Doctrine of Lapse 4. Trade The East India company first established its control over the Carnatic by defeating the French East India company. It then conquered Bengal through its victories in the Battles of Plassey and Buxar. This was followed by victories against Mysore and Marathas. Through these victories, the East India Company had succeeded in spreading its control over almost all of India. Regards
