Solution
The Charter Act of 1833 or Saint Helena Act 1833 or The Government of India Act 1833, ended English East India Company as a commercial body.
It was to be a purely administrative body under the Act. Legalising the British colonisation of India, the Company was to retain its territories under its government but were held 'in trust for his majesty, his heirs and successors', for the service of Government of India.
