How did the core and crust of the Earth form?

Formation of core : At some stage in the formation of the Earth, it was in a hot and molten state. As it melted, the heavier elements sank and settled towards the center, forming the core of the Earth.

Formation of crust : As Earth melted during formation, the lighter substances floated on the surface to form the outermost layer of the Earth called the crust.
