Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The new trade and employment affected the lives of tribal people in the following ways:
  • During the 19th century, traders and moneylenders began to come into the forests. They started settling in tribal lands, thus eliminating indigenous people from their own lands.
  • The arrival of foreigners, i.e traders and moneylenders disrupted the customs and cultures of Tribals.
  • They offered cash loans to the tribal people and asked them to work for wages.
  • The tribals were reduced to the status of labourers and workers.
  • Once they accepted cash loans from the moneylenders, they were caught up in this vicious circle of debt and poverty.
