During this period, The Eastern Roman Empire was an influential power in Europe and Asia. The city of Constantinople was the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire.
But in 1453 CE, Constantinople was captured by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II. After this event, many territories of Eastern Roman Empire became part of the Ottoman Empire. Suleiman was one of the successive Sultans who conquered more regions of Europe. During his rule, many European regions fell under the control of the Ottoman Empire.
