The stethoscope is used to check the pulse, breathing rate and the heartbeat. The pulse can be checked by preparing a stethoscope at home. Take a matchstick and a shirt button. Remove the carbon part of the matchstick. Insert the match stick in the button. Place this button on the wrist. The movements of the wrist due to the pulse can be recorded. This pulse is same as the heart beat. Thus, the heartbeat can be recorded by this method.
