How do advantages of exploiting natural resources with short terms aims differ from the advantages of managing our resources with a long terms perspective ?

Managing our natural resources for a long-term use is more advantageous as it keeps the resources persisting for a longer time and also a chance for regeneration to occur however exploiting such resources have its pros and cons yet some resources are in more demand then others due to which such resources are being exploited but it gives an advantage to economy and livelihood which is the major difference between both.
