Open in App
Solution

1. Autotrophs make their food by the process called photosynthesis.

2. Photosynthesis is a process by which plants make their own food in the presence of sunlight, carbon-dioxide present in the air, water, minerals, and chlorophyll present in leaves.

3. The term “autotrophic” is formed by the combination of two words, “auto” meaning self, and “trophic” meaning nutrition.

4. The autotrophic organisms contain a green-colored pigment called chlorophyll which helps in trapping energy from the sun.

5. Autotrophs prepare their own food by utilizing solar energy, water, and carbon dioxide through the process of photosynthesis.

6. Photosynthesis results in the formation of glucose which provide energy to the plant.

7. Some examples of autotrophs are all green plants, blue-green algae, and cyanobacteria.
