Question

How do 'bar screen' and 'grit and sand removal tank' help in clarification of water?

Open in App
Solution

  1. When wastewater is passed through a bar screen it separates big and large objects like plastics, bags, sticks, cans, napkins, etc.
  2. In the grit and sand removal tank, other solid impurities like pebbles, sand, etc. are removed.
  3. The water is then allowed to settle in a tank, where particulates such as faeces (known as sludge) settle at the bottom and are scraped away using a scraper.
