Question

How do copper silver and iron corrode  when exposed to the atmosphere?

Solution

The concept of corrosion is that the water molecules from the air combine with theexposed metal. The oxygen reacts with the metal forming in oxides of the metal. Metals like silver and copper forms a layer of oxide which reduces the rate ofcorrosion.
