Question

How do electrons flow in an electric current?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

When a potential difference is applied across the conductor the an electric field is generated and electron start moving opposite to the direction of electric field due to electrostatic force on the electrons.

Since electrons, the charge carriers in metal wires and most other parts of electric circuits, have a negative charge, as a consequently they flow in the opposite direction of conventional current flow in an electrical circuit.
