How do Euglenoids obtain their food?

Open in App
Solution

Nutrition in Euglenoids:

  1. Euglenoids are unicellular eukaryotic flagellate organisms.
  2. They belong to the kingdom Protista and phylum Euglenophyte.
  3. They have flagella (hair-like appendages) for locomotion.
  4. They have a mixotrophic mode of nutrition.
  5. Hence, they have photosynthetic pigments by which they can prepare their food using sunlight.
  6. They can also depend on heterotrophic nutrition by preying on small organisms such as green algae, amoebas, paramecium, rotifer, etc.
