Oral contraceptives:

  1. The pills or tablets that are taken orally (through the mouth) by females to avoid conceptions are called oral contraceptives.
  2. These pills are made of hormone progestogens alone or in combination with an estrogen. Thus, they are also called hormonal pills.
  3. Mala-D is an oral contraceptive pill. It is the combination of two hormones levonorgestrel and Ethinyl estradiol.
  4. Oral contraceptives prevent conception by disturbing processes such as ovulation and fertilization.
