Solution

Biodiversity:

  1. The variation in the species of plants, animals, and other organisms is termed biodiversity.
  2. It includes all the biotic and abiotic components of nature.
  3. Biodiversity determines the variation among organisms at three levels-
  1. Genetic diversity: It refers to the extent of variation among organisms at the genetic variation.
  2. Species diversity: It is the diversity among various species and populations.
  3. Ecosystem diversity: Diversity between various biological communities, ecological processes, and habitats is termed ecosystem diversity.

Effect of human activities on biodiversity:

  1. Overpopulation: The overpopulation of humans on earth has resulted in a huge loss of our biodiversity, it leads to increased resource consumption.
  2. Overexploitation: Overexploitation of resources from the biodiversity can result in the depletion of these resources.
  3. Habitat destruction: Excessive human interference leads to the destruction of the habitat in which animals live, which results in their extinction.
  4. Pollution: The pollution caused by humans is drastically damaging our biodiversity and causing the species to die.
