How do humans influence the cycling of matter in ecosystems?

Solution

Human's influence on the cycling of matter in ecosystems: -

Humans wreak havoc on the ecosystem by interfering with the biogeochemical cycle in many ways. We can explain this using the example of carbon cycle:

  1. The destruction of forests has resulted in a depletion of carbon-absorbing plants and trees. Also, humans are responsible for a significant amount of carbon emissions into the atmosphere, which occurs via industrial operations such as coal and oil combustion.
  2. These procedures aid in the production of energy, and carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere have risen dramatically as a result of these conditions.
  3. Carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere grew by 25% between 1870 and 1990. Carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are now so high that plants and seas are unable to absorb it quickly enough.
