Malting of barley:
Gibberellins are sometimes utilized to boost alpha-amylase levels in the growing barley Hordeum vulgare, which is used to make malt for the brewing industry.
Increasing sugarcane yield:-
Cane sugar (sucrose) is stored in the parenchyma cells of internodes in sugarcane promoting internode elongation.
Sugarcane growth and sugar yields are significantly increased when gibberellins are sprayed on the crop.
Fruit production:
Gibberellin treatment is used to produce seedless and big grapes on a commercial basis.
Gibberellins induce grape stalks to expand significantly, allowing grapes to grow larger in grape bunches.
Promalin, a combination of the cytokinin benzyl adenine and GA4 + GA7, is particularly successful in increasing apple fruit growth, especially in red Delicious-type apples.
Gibberellins have also been sprayed on some citrus fruit trees (such as naval-orange) after the fruits have lost the majority of their green color to prevent various post-harvest rinds (fruit coats) diseases that arise during storage. As a result, gibberellins postpone senescence and keep fruit rinds tougher.
Seed production:
In conifers, a combination of GA4 and GA7 is utilized to boost seed output.
Gibberellin therapy increases bolting in several biennial plants, such as beet and cabbage, reducing seed production time.
