  1. The widening of blood vessels, usually near the surface of the skin is called vasodilation.
  2. It helps in increased blood flow with flushing or warmth. It helps the walls of arteries and veins.
  3. It prevents muscles from tightening and blood vessel walls from narrowing.
  4. Leafy green vegetables like spinach and collard greens high in nitrates are good vasodilators.
  5. Allicin, a chemical compound found in garlic clinically shown to promote blood flow by lowering blood pressure and relaxing the blood vessels.
  6. Allicin also helps to prevent cancer, lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.
  7. Alternatively, a healthy diet coupled with regular exercise is also beneficial for the circulatory system.
