For example, agricultural tools have wooden handles that are to be fixed in a metal ring. While making them, the metal ring is heated before fixing the wooden handle. On heating, the metal ring expands and, the wooden handle can be fixed easily. When it is cooled, it contracts and, the handle fits in tightly.
