How do organelles protect a cell?

Open in App
Solution

Role of organelles in protecting a cell:

  1. Different organelles provide different functions.
  2. It is the plasma membrane that protects different cell organelles within the cell.
  3. It is a thin covering around the cell made up of lipoproteins and phospholipids, along with carbohydrate moieties.
  4. It is semipermeable, that is selectively permeable to the ions.
  5. The ions have to pass through special channels embedded in the membrane layer.
  6. It protects cells from thermos hocks and maintains osmotic balance.
  7. Thus, the membrane keeps the organelles in the cytoplasm intact and protected from the extracellular fluid.
