How do solids, liquids and gases differ in shape and volume?

Solution
Solids have a fixed shape and volume as their particles are very tightly packed and has a strong intermolecular force. For example: wood, ice, rock, glass etc.
Liquids have a fixed volume but no fixed shape as their particles are loosely packed than solids and they have less intermolecular force than solids. For example: water, milk, blood, mercury etc.
Gases have no fixed shape and volume as their particles are very loosely packed and they have a very weak intermolecular force. For example: Hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine etc.
