Question

How do the habit of overwatering leads to contamination of the ground water?

Open in App
Solution

Overwatering means providing excess water to the plants(more than the requirement for plants) very frequently.
For the plants, overwatering will damage the roots and roots cannot absorb the nutrients and they cannot hold the soil due to soil erosion. So plants will dye after some time
But for the environment, pouring too much water on the surface of the earth will dissolve the impurities present on the top and mix them with the groundwater. So groundwater will be contaminated and become unfit for consumption. For example, a decayed animal body will not be harmful on the surface of the earth. Bacterias will decompose the body slowly. But if water is poured continuously on the body the water will be contaminated with bacteria and will mix up with the groundwater. So groundwater will be polluted.
