How do the nostrils contribute to the process of breathing?
When we breathe in air, it passes through our nostrils. The slimy mucus present in it moistens the air. The inner lining of the nose secretes mucus. The blood circulating in the nose makes the air warm. The mucus and hair present in the nostril catch the dirt, dust, and disease-causing germs. Thus, they cannot enter the respiratory system.
