A stakeholder is a person with an interest in a particular business. Everyone uses forest resources in one form or the other.

The stakeholders affect the conservation of forests and wildlife in the following ways:

1. The forest dwellers use forest resources to sustain their livelihood thus they try to conserve the forest resources.
2. The more they conserve the forest resource the more they can make their livelihood easy.
3. Many forest dwellers try to conserve certain plants considering their sacred groves. As sacred groves are protected traditionally by forest dwellers.

For example - Amrita Devi Bishnoi from the Bishnoi community, Rajasthan, protested to safeguard the Khejri trees in Khejrali village. Many people sacrificed their lives in the process.
