Open in App
Solution

When an object is in motion:

  1. If an object's position with respect to its surroundings does not change over time, it is said to be at rest.
  2. Motion is defined as an object's free movement with respect to time.
  3. For example, a fan, dust falling from the carpet, water flowing from the faucet, a ball rolling around, a moving car, etc.
  4. If the position of an object changes with time with respect to an observer, then the object is said to be in motion with respect to the observer.
