How do we see luminous and non luminous objects?

We can see a luminous object by looking at it directly as the light rays from the object reaches directly in our eyes.
In the case of a non-luminous object, a luminous object near it emit the light rays which gets reflected from the non-luminous object and reaches our eyes.
