Solution
Zero error
It is a type of error in which an instrument gives a reading when the true reading at that time is zero.
For example needle of an ammeter fails to return to zero when no current flows through it.
Correction of zero error
If the zero marking is in the right sight of the primary marking then zero error is positive. And we have to add this zero error from the measured length.
If the zero marking is in the left sight of the primary marking then zero error is negative. And we have to subtract this zero error from the measured length.
To correct such a zero error, you add or subtract the zero error from the measured length to get the actual length.
