How do you calculate mass using density and volume?

Open in App
Solution

Volume and density

  1. Volume is the amount of space taken by a body, defined by V.
  2. Mass is the amount of inert matter in a body, defined by M.
  3. The density, of a substance is its mass per unit volume defined by ρ.
  4. density=massvolume.

Calculation of mass

  1. Mass is defined as the product of volume and density, i.e, mass=volume×density.
  2. If we know the density and volume of a body, we can easily calculate the mass.
