Calculation of momentum

1. From Newton's second law of motion, the time rate of change of momentum is proportional to the applied force, and the direction of momentum is along the force direction.
2. From Newton's law of motion, $\overrightarrow{F}\propto \frac{d\overrightarrow{P}}{dt}$, where F is the applied force and P is the momentum.
3. Force on a body is defined as $\overrightarrow{F}=m\overrightarrow{a}$, where m is the mass and a is the acceleration of the body.
4. If we know about the applied force then we can easily calculate the change of momentum.
