Open in App
Solution

Finding the factor of the expression:

Given expression is x3-64

Use the identity a3-b3=(a-b)(a2+ab+b2) to factorize x3-64.

(x3-64) can be written as (x3-43).

Put a=x and b=4 in the identity.

x3-43=(x-4)(x2+4x+16)

x2+4x+16 is quadratic equation and discriminant (b2-4ac)=-48 which is negative.

It means x2+4x+16 has no real roots.

So x2+4x+16can not be factorized further.

Hence, x3-64 =(x-4)(x2+4x+16).
