How do you find cin a linear equation?

Open in App
Solution

Definition of the linear equation:

Linear equations are equations having variables with power1.

ax+b=0is an example of a linear equation with one variable where xis the variable, aand bare real numbers

For finding cin a linear equation we should know its representation. The general equation of a straight line is given as:

y=mx+c

Where,

  • mis the gradient
  • cis the intercept on the y-axis
  • Also, y=cis the point where the line cuts y-axis.

Therefore, cis found by using the above equation.

Example:

The given equation of a line is 6x+2y=4

2y=-6x+4y=-3x+2

Comparing the given equation with y=mx+c, we get

c=2
