Question

How do you find partial pressure from moles?

Open in App
Solution

The partial pressure from moles can be calculated as:

  1. The Hypothetical pressure of gas that is part of gaseous mixture occupy a certain volume at a certain temperature.
  2. According to Dalton's law of partial pressure pressure exerted by the mixture of gases is equal to the pressure exerted by the each individual gas in a isolated container.
  3. From the formula:

XA=ηA÷ηTotal=PA÷PTotal

where NA represent number of moles of gas A present in mixture.

nTotal represnt total number of moles present in mixture

PTotal represent total pressure of gas mixture

Therefore, a gas partial pressure can be determined from the given moles with the given formula:

PA=ηA÷NTotal×PTotal
