Question

How can you find pH of the solution?

Open in App
Solution

The pH of the solution-

The measure of hydrogen ion concentration which is a measure of its acidity pure water dissociate slightly into an equal concentration of hydrogen and hydroxyl. The pH determine the acidity and basicity of the solution and its full form is hydrogen potential.

H2OH++OH-

Excess hydrogen ions make the solution acidic, pH is calculated using the expression pH=-log[H3O+]

Example:- Calculate the pH of the solution having having hydrogen concentration is 0.0001 moles per litre.

Solution: Given, hydrogen concentration =H+=0.0001

pH=-log0.0001pH=-log10-4pH=-(-4)pH=4
