Question

How do you find the slope and intercept for x-4y=-8?

Open in App
Solution

Find the slope and intercept for x-4y=-8.

Isolate y in the equation.

Take away x from each side:

-4y=-x-8

Divide each side by -4:

y=14x+2

Compare the above equation with y=mx+c. Where, m= the slope and b=y-intercept:

Therefore, we get

m=14b=2

Hence, the slope is 14 and the y-intercept is 2.
