Solution

To identify amide group:

  1. Amides are formed by reaction of carboxylic acid reaction with amines

  1. When amino acids reacted to form proteins, amides are formed through peptide bond.

  1. A sample containing amide group is treated with sodium hydroxide(NaOH), in this reaction ammonia(NH3) gas evolved out when sodium hydroxide replace amino group. The fumes of white are produced when ammonia gas treated with hydrochloric acid. The white fumes are of ammonium chloride.

Thus, by using this test amides can be identified.
