Question

How do you identify hydrogen bonding?

Open in App
Solution

To identify the bonding with hydrogen:

  • The hydrogen atom is positively charged and it attracts negatively charged atoms for bond formation. The bonds are weak forces of attraction, which are known as hydrogen bonding.
  • For example- In the formation of the water molecule, a hydrogen atom is linked with a negatively charged oxygen atom with weak intramolecular hydrogen bonding.

So, when hydrogen is bonded with a negatively charged atom this will be hydrogen bonding.
