Ways to kill E.coli:

  1. After coming into contact with farm animals, animal feces, or being in farm environments, wash your hands.
  2. After use, thoroughly wash hands, counters, cutting boards, utensils, and meat thermometers in hot soapy water.
  3. E. coli may be present in unpasteurized milk, juice, and cider. Drink only pasteurized beverages and juice concentrates to be safe.
  4. E. coli bacteria are killed by boiling or cooking fresh spinach until it reaches 160 degrees, usually for 15 seconds or more.
