How do you know if your digestive system is healthy?

Solution

Digestive system:

The digestive system breaks down food and liquids into chemical components (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) that your body can absorb as nutrients for energy and cell building or repair.

Healthy digestive system:

  1. A healthy gastrointestinal system efficiently processes food (a healthy person typically digests food in 24-45 hours) and eliminates waste material from the body.
  2. Its functioning can be seen in the time it takes for food to digest as well as the appearance of stool; regular and frequent bowel movements indicate a healthy gastrointestinal system.

Unhealthy digestive system:

Low energy, fatigue, interrupted or restless sleep, dark circles under the eyes, blotchy skin, abdominal pain, high gas levels, and bloating are all symptoms of poor gut health.
