Question

How do you think they weighed elephants in olden times?

Open in App
Solution

The weight of the elephant used to be determined by comparison. First the elephant was made to stand on a big boat. The level of water to which the boat sunk into the water was marked. Then, the boat was loaded with rocks which made it to sink to the same level. The mass of the rock was calculated and that would be equal to the mass of the elephant.
