Question

How does a cell prevent itself from bursting?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, Plant cells have cell wall, when cell is placed in the solution having less solute content water from outside moves into the cell resulting in swelling of the cell, but cell wall present prevents bursting. But in case of animal cells they do not have cell wall but contractile vacuole present inside the cell pumps out the excess water and thus prevents bursting. Thank You!
