How does a democratic government make sure people obey law

a. A Democratic government is based on the concept of rule of law where system functions as per set norms, rules and not according to whims and fancies of the ruler.
b. A democratic government would ensure that laws made by the elected representatives are adhered to .
c. A government through its law enforcing agencies like the police which is tasked to maintain law and order would ensure that people obey laws.
d. Further, media as a tool can be used by government to report incidents of lawlessness and the government then can take appropriate action.
e. It is also important to note that democratic government is based on collective consent of the people, thus people would generally obey laws because they know it is for their welfare and benefit.
f. Also because the laws are made by our elected representatives.
g. Fear of being punished and penalised also ensures that we abide by laws.
