Solution
Xerophytes are adapted to grow in dry habitats. succulents absorb large quantities of water during rainy season and store water in different body parts.
In all succulents are also known as true xerophytes because they can withstand long drought periods.
The roots are extensively developed to increase water absorption. The stem is usually short, woody, dry and hard. Leaves are usually thick and may be reduced spine.
The stomata are sunken and generally present on the lower surface.
Water storing parenchyma, conducting tissue, mechanical tissue is well developed. They have high resistance to desiccation and mucilage to hold water.
